Kinder Gym Pre school Activity Classes
Kinder Gym is an organised physical activity designed to help pre-school children learn co-ordination, balance and agility skills thus leading to physical and mental confidence, - promoting fitness whilst having fun. Aim for the child - to satisfy his or
her need to crawl, climb, swing and roll in a safe and supervised
environment, Aim for the parent - to help the child gain confidence, encouraging a timid child unable to complete the "assault" course to turn into a confident toddler able to challenge any obstacle, physical or mental, and encouraging a careless child to focus and climb safely. This consists of wooden pieces of apparatus such as ladders to climb, beams to balance on and "A" frames to conquer. These improve the climbing, co-ordination and balance skills. Other apparatus include large colourful foam barrels to roll over, blocks and wedges to climb, roll on and jump off, balls to catch, bean bags to throw and a trampoline to jump on. The equipment is arranged in a different way every 2 weeks. This enables the child to learn a new skill the first week and to reinforce this new knowledge the second week. As the term progresses new and more challenging arrangements of the equipment are set up for the children according to their progress. All activities are planned and supervised by trained and experienced coaches. Group activity is enhanced by the use of action songs using bean bags, "rhythm" sticks and body movement. These are to help develop co-ordination, learning left from right, up from down etc. concentration and social skills. Classes usually begin and end with this type of group activity. Each 45 minute lesson is aimed at a particular age group. Up to the age of 3 we invite the parent to stay and join in the fun. It is a chance to further develop the relationship between parent and child. A parent who participates with the songs and guides their child over the apparatus will find themselves enjoying the lesson as much as the child. At approximately 3 years the children attend by themselves learning to play with each other, take instruction from other adults and to strengthen those early gymnastic skills To discuss the needs of your child call
