Kindergym classes available for
nurseries, playgroups or preschools
Classes directly lined to “Every Child Matters” government policy. Every child has the right to: Be Healthy Parents and children exercise together taking the first steps towards a healthy lifestyle, whilst learning exercise is fun. Each class ends with time for free play with a variety of balls to encourage movement and hand to eye co-ordination. Stay Safe Kindergym classes provide a safe environment for the child to learn and practise new skills with specialized equipment and trained teachers. Children are taught to climb and balance safely, gaining confidence in their own abilities. Enjoy and achieve Every 2 weeks the children are given new equipment presenting new challenges, so the child has lots of opportunities to achieve and build self confidence, helping them to successfully deal with life changes and challenges in the future. Make a positive contribution The classes give the children an opportunity to develop their social skills, and learn how to build positive relationships with other children and adults. Class structure (45 minutes long) Warm up song, which remains the same, to provide a safe, familiar, welcoming start to the class, followed by one more short action song which changes every half term. A large collection of low-level climbing apparatus is provided eg wobble boards, balancing boards, ladders, number discs and pop up equipment and show the children how to use them. We also bring out a colour co-ordinated target and beanbags, which the younger siblings also enjoy. Two members of staff are present to help and one of them will bring out a larger piece of soft play equipment, and teach the children who are ready for this, the techniques needed for forward or backwards rolls, jumping and landing. During this time the children can explore as they wish enabling the shyer ones to join in when they are ready. Another action song follows whilst the equipment is put away. For 5 – 10 minutes we provide hand to eye co-ordinated equipment eg a great variety of balls, balloons, skittles, beanbags. Our last song includes using sticks or beanbags, which remains the same over a half term so the children can learn it. Venues Classes take place in a variety of venues in the Aylesbury, Chesham Chalfont and High Wycombe areas. Please contact your local Surestart children’s centre for an up to date timetable, or contact Jenny direct.
